What song made you fall in love with electronic music? I did not grow up listening to dance music, I live in the US and most of my friends think of electronic music as "gay". If you had something similar happen with you, what song did it for you? I'll never forget mine, it was Sasha's Xpander. <3 Throwback! Check out xpander if you need a refresher.. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAJAIxaV7a8
Where should I move to (within the continental US) for a good music scene? I have lived in Austin, TX for 8 years now, and am bored to death here with the music scene (don't let them fool you with that "live music capital" line). Living here I have gotten involved in Electronic Dance Music (house and breaks mostly) after finding there was a poor metal scene here. Now I like EDM. I want to move to a city that has both a great live music scene (mostly metal and rock) AND also has a good dance music scene as well. Any suggestions?
Why are young people into Dj's and dance music so much? Every bar that I know around Chicagoland that caters to young people. You know 18-25, they all have dj's on the weekends that play hip hop or electronic music. I don't see them booking live bands anymore. The bars that cater to the older crowd, which is 35 and up sure like to book live bands though. Mostly of the classic rock genre. So my question is, why are bars that want a younger crowd not pushing bands anymore, and instead booking dj's and playing dance music?
Does anyone know of electronic music festivals in the USA!? I live in Ohio, i would like to know if there are any electronic music(trance/house/dance/hardstyle) festivals near where i live, or even concerts in Ohio in general, or maybe pennsylvania, NY, etc... if possible my favorite is Hardstyle( such as Showtek, headhunterz, Zany, Alpha 2,...) if its not, maybe trance/house concerts or festivals(tiesto, armin van buren, paul van dyk, deadmau5, benny benassi)... if you find me any concerts/ festivals at all.. please write them down!!! anything in the midwest is good(Ohio, Penn, NY, illonois, WV, Indiana, MIchanga, id maybe even drive to canada!!) please help! :)
Do I really need an Audio Interface for my studio? I make dance/electronic music. I don't really ever record vocals, live instruments, or anything like that really - just sample vinyl sometimes. I've got some rockit rp8 monitors which are pretty nice and they're plugged into my DJ mixer which my laptop is plugged into. Audio Interfaces look useful for artists who record often but most of my music comes from the laptop. Is there a point in buying an interface?
I want to become a music producer, but I need to know where to start? Hi guys, Well lets just say I am a music fanatic. I listen to every style out there but I mostly focus on EDM. I always dream of being a music producer for my future. I'd like to produce EDM (electronic dance music) specifically ambient, IDM, hardcore, industrial or trance. I have been fooling around with Fruity Loops on my laptop (yes I know not that good lol) and have been using VST's and some samples to and just basically just doing trial and error. Now I am in college and one of my questions is if I want to produce EDM, what college education do I need or do I need any? Another question is who do I contact or maybe get an internship. Cause I want to broaden my horizons on the producing aspects and learn the technology people use to produce music. Basically all I am asking is how to get started and what education is needed. I do not play any instruments at all nor do I have any musical background (I do know some stuff but it's hazy). So I live in Chicago land area as well if it helps. If you need more info just ask me. Thanks.
Would it be believable to have a large international music festival in Turkey? Hello! I am asking this question because my assignment in graphic design class is to create a identity system for a concert festival (similar to Coachella, Bonnaroo, Sasquatch) to be held anywhere of our choosing. I am not from Turkey nor have I ever been (yet, at least) , but I'm very intrigued by the country's cultural diversity and mix of traditional and modern. Although I am still educating myself I am very unsure about certain things & need help in figuring out if a huge music festival aimed toward young adults containing electronic dance music (not the rave stuff) could be held somewhere in Turkey. I know for a fact there is an underground music scene with DJs and dance clubs around the Aegean region. Would this be an appropriate place to have such a festival? Also, any answers/comments would be helpful. I'm presenting the idea to a professor who is doesn't know why I picked Turkey. We obviously don't know much about the country aside from a few sterotypes (it's sad, really), so I would LOVE for people to tell me what's feasiable, what's not, and anything else you'd like for me to know. It will help be more confident in this project if I can get any outside feedback from people who've been to/live in Turkey. Thank you!!!!
Beginner DJ, what do I need to get started? I'm 18 years old and a very active musician. I have been around music for a long time and I am very good with the guitar/bass, piano, and am very knowledgeable when it comes to music terms. When it comes to the technical side of music I have a pretty good foundation as well such as connections and computer stuff and making/recording music. What recently has caught my eye is live performance and have always wanted to DJ for people with the dance music I have and what I can create/mix. I love dance/electronic music and just making people dance, but I am going off to college now so I'm gonna need these tools to get started but not as intensive due to lack of space and money. I have a Roland Juno now and amp and guitars and MacBook Pro, but I am probably going to need a smaller keyboard and something easier access for speakers that I can take around on campus. What are some good mixers, and software, and keyboards (small) and cool DJ tools that I can use to start creating the music and playing live for people. I love Benny Benassi and Deadmau5 and what they do, and I wanna bring my musical side out to the dance floor as well and would like to really just do a lot of live stuff but also be able to record my music inside as well. What do I need to get started I have money but not a whole lot so something not too expensive but will get the job done with good quality. Let me know thanks!
where in china shall i teach English? I'm a 25 year old. I enjoy live music, dancing, and the electronic/industrial scene. I like drum n bass, wave, industrial, glitch, dub, and reggae for dancing. techno is tolerable is small doses when the mood is right. I crave and feed off of live, original, folk and jazz music. I am an avid busker and like to think that i have an artist's spirit. i do what i can to care for environment and my health. i have a big dog and enjoy hiking, walking, and rollerblading. which city in China do you feel is the most suitable for what you know about my lifestyle? I plan to teach English for at least one year (while returning to Canada in the summers). Thanks! please realize that what i wrote was on a whim and by no means representative of what i consider proper writing style. i realize that it is wrought with grammatical/spelling errors. i don't believe that it warranted a response of that tone. computers and Internet make us take communicating effectively, correctly, and articulately lightly...and i am guilty of this! Teaching English is and has been a passion of mine for many years. i hold a Masters degree and TESOL certification, if that is of consequence to any readers out there. For me, the next step is teaching outside of North America. I am the daughter of Chinese immigrants who had a tremendously difficult time with learning English due to lack of adequate English lessons in their homelands. ok, that was a thinly veiled attempt to pull at your heartstrings...but teaching English overseas is something i genuinely want to do! (plus, i speak Mandarin, a definite asset to teaching in China)
How do I go about starting a record label? Me and some friends have recently started a website (xaphan.us)dedicated to electronic dance music and have been streaming live DJ mixes. We are still extremely small with barely any listenership, and I would like to start a record label. But don't even know where to start. I think the obvious would be to start promoting like mad, but I am not sure what would be the best and most successful way of promoting in order to turn this into a business rather than a hobby. Should I get a trademark on our name? Any advice on how to go about this in more of a business manner rather than just a side project for fun. I know in the beginning, I will have to spend money to get it up and running. I am Lost and don't know where to start.

What is the appeal of a night club? I'm the kind of guy who simply is not drawn to large crowds, lots of flashing lights, and loud noises. I'm not the least bit shy or timid mind you - in fact I'm quite out going and good with people. But I've never been to a club (as best I know anyway). I hang out at my local dive bar a few times per week (maybe it's a sports bar? I've no idea what to label it) and have been to bars where live bands play. Based on movies and what I've heard people say, a night club seems like the kind of place that would be playing electronic dance music, have lots of neon lights, and a floor for dancing. Are country music dance places clubs too? But I still don't understand what people get out of going to night clubs other than meeting people. Are the big crowds, flashing lights, and loud noises exciting to be around? Is it the over all "party" environment? What do people do at a club - dance? And when it come to meeting people, isn't it hard to talk to them in a loud place with lots of distractions? Or are all the loud noises and flashing lights the entire point? What do you have in common with people you meet at a club other than you both like to "go clubbing"? I assume you're looking to meet sexual partners at clubs instead of friends, but isn't the fact that you both like to go to clubs a rather poor basis for a relationship?
What is your culture? What is your culture? I'm an American teenager living in Texas at the moment. I currently live in a suburb dependent on cars and big box stores. I hope to move to the Northeast as soon as possible as I am a fan of public transportation, light rail, dense urban cities, bicycling, historic American architecture, and new urbanism. The most common foods I eat at the moment are Tex-Mex, Italian, and BBQ. My first language is English and I am learning Spanish. I like mom & pop stores/restaurants, farmers markets, and street food. Whenever I am in a city well known for a particular type of cuisine, I always try and sample some of it (no McDonald's for me in Paris lol). I am neither democratic nor republican because neither convinces me to fully support their ideals. I have a 'standard' American accent though I have picked up many Texan pronunciations of words and occasionally use the phrases and words like "y'all". I love American history and am quite patriotic to a certain point (I'm not blindly nationalistic and I do try and understand different cultures/politics). I respect the arts a lot -- music, art work, literature, cinema/theater productions, etc. My favorite types of music are Alternative, Indie, and Electronic Dance Music. I also like current music from countries all around the world (particularly Mexico, Japan, South Korea, and many European countries). I love technology and I support the endeavors of American inventors/scientists. I'm a pro natalist. I like to get involved in the community by volunteering in trash cleanups, festivals, parades, retirement home visits, food bank work, etc. I recycling every recyclable thing I can get my hands on.
Music/artist suggestions? I'm bored...need new music... LOVE: Peter Doherty, Babyshambles, Amy Macdonald, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sia, Patrick Wolf, Plastiscines, Modest Mouse, Meg & Dia, Lykke Li, Lily Allen, Living Things, Laura Marling, Ladyhawke, Glasvegas, Ida Maria, Kate Voegele, Fleet Foxes, The Gossip, A Fine Frenzy, Conor Oberst, Camera Obscura, Blondie, The Beatles, Cage the Elephant I Dislike: Rap/Hip-Hop, Country, emo music, Disney pop, electronic/dance, and extremely slow music
We need an electronic sound to our band? The Genre of music we want to play is electronic/dance/rock. If you don't understand what i mean, well we want to cover songs such as "I'm not alone - Calvin Harris" or Parlez Vous Francias - Art Vs Science" or "Propane Nightmares - Pendulum" Take a look at them on youtube. We want to play in clubs and we are looking for the best way to get around a keyboard player as we don't have one. Now I'm thinking to maybe find some sound editing software and to take the individual keyboard parts out of the song and to play it live during our set... Or maybe to create the music myself on Fruit Loop Studio (fl studio) and also play it during out set, it would be very difficult and very time consuming though.. Does anyone have any helpful ideas????
My cousin in her 20s hates modern technology so much, why? Can she live like this the rest of her life? It creates hinder during life since she often refuses to take buses, trains, etc and will just want to 'waste' time by travelling by bike or walk unless it's too far away or she is carrying a huge load. But often she'll just skip doing something if it's not important if it's far away. She would use a gas stove to cook because our home is not suitable for a fire and she sulks about it and often doesn't even want to cook but her family makes her do so because their family does chores on a routine. Speaking about chores, she won't use a vacuum cleaner and just use a mop and broom. She'd also handwash all her clothes refusing them to be put in the washing machine with everyone elses unless they're absolutely soiled and her family insists, but not without a protest. She won't use a cell phone, even making her parents return the one they got for her (that was when she was 19) and doesn't even like using the home phone and often doesn't take calls. It's troublesome because people can't contact her efficiently, even if it's important. Due to that not many people talk to her outside the family because she's so hard to get to and most of her few friends she ever had just couldn't keep up writing letters and meeting in person when they can't confirm time and location. She won't use a computer unless she absolutely has to, she sometimes even refused to do her homework when she went to school (before, she graduated, somehow) if it involved using a computer, often getting into trouble. In fact she always got in trouble in her computer class because she simply didn't want to do anything and won't learn properly. She was happy after graduating because then she didn't have the 'ridiculous hassle of technology' as she called it. She won't watch tv either, not even the news or weather. She does listen to music, but will only listen to the old records or on the old radio (but obviously the radio picks up modern stuff) our grandfather has. The stuff is really old, mine you and doesn't even work smoothly. If not she'd listen to live stuff and only orchestras, solos, opera and the like. She won't watch live bands with screaming loud electronic music with all sorts of video screens above the stage and lights dancing about, calls it too crazy, even worse than music in mp3 formats. She doesn't even like the electric lights at home and often sleeps very early and wakes up at dawn so she doesn't have to use them as much. And in hot summer she'd close her door, blocking the air conditioning from the rest of the flat, and open the window and just use a handheld fan. She sweats a lot. In winter her family has an oil heater for each room except for hers because she refuses one. She just wears thick coats (even to bed) when it's cold. Well I think you get the point. There's more but that's more than enough describing. Anyway I really don't know how she can live like this. But you get the point. Will she be able to live like this the rest of her life? That's what she says she wants. She began her dislike of modern technology when she was like 9, and kept throwing tantrums until her family acquisted. Gradually using the technology less and less.
Can you tell by what she said if she likes me? Tyler - Why are you never on facebook? lol Anyways.. my father used to paint on a daily basis when he was younger. His paintings are scattered on the walls all over our house haha. He loves to paint and draw, and now he does photo retouching for a living. :) Oh, you work at subway right? Maybe that's why you aren't on myspace haha. Her - yess! im always too busy to get on the computer..but when i find some time i normally get on here for a few mins..lol! but thats soo cool!!!!! so he like paints of canvas's? i normally paint like objects..like little figures and picture frames.. and stuff like that! and i ALSO love to work with photos!!! freakkayy! hahahahaa! but yeah i like taking pictures and messing with editing them..its pretty fun!! then i like doing like scrapbooks..but i can never finish one! hahaha!! Tyler - Yea he does all of that stuff. One time he took a picture of my brother in several different poses, and put them all on one photo so it looked like we had quadruplets of him! haha. We didn't order the retouched version of the prom pictures either! My dad just did the retouching himself by taking the logo off! I'm not quite sure what he paints on, its just thick paper i guess? Probably canvas. He likes to draw too :) That reminds me - I have a model car I need to paint haha. Me and my brother went to subway across from Shanes today and we didn't see you there :( I told the lady "Where's Sarah?" and she said "Sarah?" haha i don't know. I find it funny that we also have the same music in common too! As I Lay Dying is one of my favorite bands, along with Lamb of God. I like the songs 94 Hours and The sound of Truth. Her - thats really cool!!! hahahaha! is it like absract pictures he paints or is it like full on picutures..like landscapes or people or stuff..lol! and im not too good at drawing that much tho..thats one of my faults when it comes to art stuff i guess.. and you do model cars? thats pretty neat! how many do you have done? and nahh..i mostly work night shift at subway..i hate night shift tho..we have to deal with all the moody customers..clean up the store..take out the trash..AnD prep for the morning shift! its CRAZY! I LoVe allllllll kinds of music!!!! its so wild! 94 hours is awesome tho..and i dont think ive ever heard of The sound of truth..i might just have to go look that up! haha!! Do you like Devil wears prada, or Slipknot, or Underoath??? Tyler - He paints everything! He painting a picture of my mom next to this lake, a picture of this old abandoned house, flowers, and several others!!! He doesn't draw often though, he does sketch group every now and then, but he isn't too much into drawing.. I don't do model cars that often. There is a corvette I bought a few months ago and never really got around to building it. I found it earlier and I was like waaaaaa! How could I forget this?!? I like the exotic cars, like Lamborghini, toyota supra's and stuff like that. The subway staff looked liked they could have used your help. There were only two of them and there was like 30 customers lol. And there was this pack of girls that looked like they were from softball or something idk, but they were very annoying and people were leaving the store because of them haha. I love all kinds of music too! There isn't really one type of music that I listen to. I'll listen to anything that has a good beat to it. I listed to mostly heavy metal and electronic/dance music. i LOVE devil wears prada, and I've always like slipknot since they started. I can't really say I like underoath though, I've only heard a few of their songs. I like just about every band there is because they usually have atleast one song that I like haha. Do you mind if I text you on the phone? Your profile said you were a big texter :) Her - uhhh i hate it when like a entire team comes in..it makes the place soo crowded! one time the girls basketball team and the girls soccer team came in at the same time and i was so maddd..i was about to slap somebody! hahaha! but i have a good mixture of both soft and hard core rock..then some pop and alternative..and hip-hop stuff.. so mostly everything! hahahaa! and thats not really true..now i dont text as much as i use to bc my phone is always on silent and i can never really get anyones messages on time.. :/ hahaha! Tyler - Really? Everyone was staring at them and people were walking out! lol! The two people working were telling people not to leave lol. The softball people decided to go eat at McDonald's AFTER they just got eating at subway... jeez. They left the place in a big mess too. That reminds me.. me, Mark, and Micah are probably going to have a barbecue this weekend, I need to get stuff for that... Yea, I like mainly everything but the only thing I listen to on a daily basis is alternative and heavy metal. The only music I have a hard time listening to is country. Well if you you'd like me to text you that will be great. Do you mind if I get
Who else has faith that the 2010's will rock? Every once in a while a good decade comes along with radical social change and change in music styles such as the 20s, 60s, and early 90's. 20's brought jazz and women rights, 60's the peace movement and rock and roll/psychadelia and the early 90s grunge and "Anti culture". I predict the 2010s will bring back a more "80's" sound. More electronic and dance music. I hope rock n roll makes a comeback. Afterall my age group is rediscovering the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Nirvana, etc. I also sense a radical liberal revolution: gay rights, environmentalism, anti war. Even vegetarianism. I don't know about where you live, but there are more vegetarians at my school than ever. Whether or not you like the idea of such a change I see it happening. Anyone else think the next decade will bring something good or at least bring REAL change? Face it. The 2000s suck. It's sad that this is what I have to look back on when I think about my high school years. Yikes.
Good Party Music? Question Details:I am looking for some good party music. Mainly Rap/Hip-Hop, not techno, electronic, or dance (like Sandstorm or the like). Songs like Laffy Taffy, In Da Club, even Hung Up by Madonna or Dirrty by Christina Aguilera. Are there any good ones? I am looking for ones that I wouldn't know, i.e. ones that are over a year or two old (I used to live in Europe). I know more modern ones like Crank That/Pop, Lock and Drop It. Any suggestions?
Tokio Hotel Family: Interview with the twins :D? This time they actually said Bill & Tom Kaulitz from Tokio Hotel, not just Tokio Hotel :] Its a stardoll interview lol How long has Tokio Hotel been together? Bill: We have been a band since 2003, but Tom and I have been making music since we were 8 years old. How would you describe your group’s style? Tom: I think it is pretty hard to describe your own style, we just make music. Our personal taste in music is very different though and I think that’s one of the reasons why our band’s sound is a good mixture of everything: rock, pop, electronic music – even dance. The only thing missing is probably hip hop. What are the bands influences? Do you have a style icon? Bill: We don’t really have one particular band or style icon that influences us. I think that the only band we all like when it comes to music and style is AEROSMITH. What are your favorite songs to play, and why? Bill: Since we are rehearsing for the tour every day now, it changes from day to day. At the moment I’m digging DOGS UNLEASHED and ZOOM INTO ME. Tom: I love DARKSIDE OF THE SUN and HUMANOID at the moment – they both are going to be total killer songs when we will play them LIVE. What is something you should bring on tour that most people may not think of? Tom: We are going to have some amazing new production items and instruments with us this trip, which nobody will expect us to have. Is it true the band is vegetarian? Bill: Yes, Tom and I have been vegetarians for over a year now. Give us some details on one of your most memorable moments as a band? Tom: That’s hard to pick since there are so many! If I had to choose three of them I would say the moment when MONSOON shot up to No.1 in Germany, winning the first EMA and the first VMA award in our career. That was really special, since we didn’t expect it whatsoever. Bill: We are actually thankful for every moment we have as a band. What is it like to be famous? Tom: It is great most times since we get to do what we always have dreamed of. When are you yourself? Bill: When I am with my friends and my family. Do you have a best friend? Bill: Yes ;) What is good about him/her? Bill: He/she accepts me the way I am. What would you like to say to the Stardoll members? Tom: We wish you all a wicked year 2010 and we’ll hopefully see you guys at one of our shows this year! What are you proud of? Bill: Everything we have achieved so far, we never expected any of this! Poll: Believe Again or In this Life? Memories or Revolution? Just Say You're Not Into It or Three Cheers For Five Years?
Is this a new subculture? or am i just being myself? Lately i've changed.. I live in the south, so usually people down here would usually listen to dance music, but lately i've been more into different types of artists, like the cool kids, kid sister, etc.. and i've also been listening to electronic, techno music and lots of 80's music, since it is coming back in style (well, at my school/ in my world it is) and insted of the regular urban stores, i've been shopping at hot topic and wearing things like suspenders, leg warmers, with skinny jeans, converse, or any hi-top shoe and a fly-ass t-shirt. Have i created a new subculture or am i just finding out my new identity?
Should I move to Portland to pursue music or stay in Seattle? I sing in a band and we just recently started getting gigs around Seattle. We are all in a high school program called running start so we are attending college, we will be close to having our AA's when we finish high school. We plan on sticking around for another year to finish those up and save some money. The Seattle music scene is pretty weak right now and everyone is just so stuck up and single minded. I hear Portland has a great music scene and we'd like to be a part of it. Also I have worked at a YMCA for almost 2 years now, I have a lot of experience in child care. I would imagine Portland has a YMCA or two but I have no idea. Either way I would assume I could find work in Portland with my child care experience fairly easily. I have also been told it is much cheaper to live in Portland then Seattle. The only problem I see is that I'm not too into Folk music, is that the only scene going on there right now? I am more focused on indie rock, or pop rock or dance rock, and some electronic rock if it can be played live. I am heavily influenced by Passion Pit, Yeasayer, Animal Collective, The Virgins, Radiohead, The Shins, and all major grunge bands (though my music draws few similarities to theirs aside from getting sporadically loud). My goal of course is to get famous along with a billion other people, but I'd really just be satisfied with having a lot of local fans and being able to play shows every weekend.
What good night clubs are in Flint, MI? Hello. I am moving from Los Angeles, CA to Flint, MI temporarily until I get a house in San Francisco, CA this summer. From January 2010-June 2010, I will be living in Flint, MI. I know most of you wonder why the hell I am moving there since its full of crime and in the worse state to live in due to the economy but I am moving there for a job (yeah, I'm surprised too) and my employer is also providing me with a house and i don't need to pay anything until I've gotten a few paychecks. So the rent is free for the first month and I don't pay anything. But I am looking for stuff to do on the weekends while I'm there. I'm 25 years old and female. I want to find a night club while I'm there. But this is the thing... I don't like rap music or hip-hop. I've looked up clubs in Flint but I'm not sure what type of music they play. They look like fun clubs (by the photos) but I just don't like that type of music. I don't like country either. Aside from that, I listen to everything. But I am looking for a specific club that will play mostly electronic music like techno, trance, house, dance, etc... the occasional hip-hop song is fine, but it seems like most clubs only play that type of music but I don't get why so many people only want to hear hip-hop and radio hits. Even if any of you know of a club that has a "techno night" that is fine. Also, if anyone knows of any gay/lesbian clubs, I am interested in that too. But I want a club with people and a lot of energy. I hate the dressed to impress clubs where most people rather sit around and look pretty rather than dance and get all sweaty. Any clubs like this in or around Flint?
I'm starting a new band and...? The Genre of music we want to play is electronic/dance/rock. If you don't understand what i mean, well we want to cover songs such as "I'm not alone - Calvin Harris" or Parlez Vous Francias - Art Vs Science" or "Propane Nightmares - Pendulum" Take a look at them on youtube. We want to play in clubs and we are looking for the best way to get around a keyboard player as we don't have one. Now I'm thinking to maybe find some sound editing software and to take the individual keyboard parts out of the song and to play it live during our set... Or maybe to create the music myself on Fruit Loop Studio (fl studio) and also play it during the set, it would be very difficult and very time consuming though.. Does anyone have any helpful ideas????
Do raves still exist? I'm talking about those crazy techno/trance/electronica type dance parties with DJ's, live mixing, light shows, and lots of people. I know Europe has alot in the way of the electronica scene, but I live in the US and all I hear at clubs is the same old popular hip hop songs played over and over. I live in the southeastern US. Does anybody know of any clubs, music festivals, or concerts that go on in the southeast US that have electronic music?
New show coming up, beginner live DJ.? I am an up and coming DJ, I have a Numark Mixdeck which I run Traktor Pro on, and I am a pretty talented musician which I play the guitar, bass, and piano, all well having a well round knowledge of recording/technical use of music. I am a pretty good with all of my DJ equipment, and have good tracks that consist of Hip-Hop/Electronic that I have created and recorded myself. Recently I have met up with a friend who has got into rapping and is now getting his name out big to some fans and wants to collab. with me, and help him make some tracks. We just recently were given the option in about a month from my teacher/music friend to put on a show for our upcoming project that we are starting, and it will be a big show because of the location, so we figured why not try it to get the name out. My question is how do I prepare for this show, I know this is going to be different than the typical party where I just mix songs together on my Mixdeck for people to dance to, I need to put on a show to support not only the flow of the audience but to do it right with my friend who will be rapping. I have done live shows before but none like this, what do I do as the DJ for a rapper, am I going to need instrumental beats and if so what kind to make this a show or with some tracks that we create or that I have already made. As a DJ what am I going to need to do, what can I do to prepare for this, and is there way's to make this process more helpful (software/instruments) well if anyone can give me any insight it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
LED festival 27.-28.08 // what if underage? My friend and I would love to go to the London Electronic Dance Festival. I was just looking at their internet page, when I saw a note saying "This is an over 18 event" Does anybody know whether it's impossible to get in being underage? (We're both 17) Why is it that way anyway? I think it is unfair to 'discriminate' in such a way. Shouldn't everyone be able to see his favourite artists live and listen to his favourite music? I don't quite understand... I'm hoping for answers :)
DO YOU AGREE? black and other artist are not getting credit for what lady gaga has copied from them? I think we should open our eyes to the original GAGA's. Because as some may know Lady Gaga has copied or as some say "inspired" by other artists. But most people of today have NO music knowledge of the real geniuses. By the way, I'm doing this because some need to keep an open mind and have and understand multiple points of views. Lady gaga is not the most original artist of today or not very original as her fans say she is. I'll say she has done things that are cool. She is interesting and I like her but she's not the greatest and doesn't live up to the legends. Some of her fans are saying she is but they are clearly not logical and are young. Of course, you are saying that now because of the hype and excitement, which makes you forget to think. I was one of them, now I've matured. It annoys me that some are not getting the credit of what she has done because they don't want to be mainstream or don't do it for the fame. I want to tell you about Kelis, a British R and B singer and songwriter. She has the same exact outfits as Lady gaga, not all but few. She wore them in 2006 and Lady gaga wore them in 2009. Now we have Kylie Minogue. Reports have said she is GAGAfied. Kylie has always dressed eccentric and now that gaga has came out they think she is taking it from her. You know what I think, now people and the media have a name(GAGA) for the eccentric outfits and get-ups that artist/ people, in general, wear. THen, of course, MADONNA, DAVID BOWIE. BUT SOME DON'T KNOW DAVID BOWIE. WELL. HE is an English musician, actor, record producer and arranger. Active in five decades of popular music and frequently reinventing his music and image, Bowie is widely regarded as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. He has been cited as an influence by many musicians and is known for his distinctive voice and the intellectual depth of his work. LADY GAGA DOESN'T HAVE INTELLECTUAL DEPTH IN HER MUSIC. she is house music, dance hall. That's just for fun. Her music videos have more depth than her songs. They all sound similar because she repeats words (hooks) p-p-ppoker face. ale- ale alejandro. my my my my telephone eh eh eh eh eh eh eh . jus jus just dance, love game, love game. papa paparazzi, bad romance and eh eh there's nothing that I can't say are the only hit songs that don't have that. I love those songs and they are catchy ( duh if u keep repeating it lol )but I'm just saying. Then there is Christina Augleria ( can't spell). Yes! her. There are similarities and I'm not talking about the fact they are blonde. Xtina <(what is she christmas (xmas) not allowed to say christ?) has always dressed eccentric but it wasn't all the time like gaga. Lady gaga is always dresses "odd" (well since THE FAME) because that is who she is. She is no different from onstage and off. That is what's so amazing about her but she is not the first to have done that. That is probably why Xtina is not known for odd clothing because she could really sing and she didn't need clothes to fall back on. she has a big voice and that overshadows a lot of things about her. Plus she's attractive, I guess. People are more drawn to her looks than her clothes. And because she's attractive, so she doesn't strain on clothes or rely on clothes as GAGA does. But there is still "inspiration " going on. You have to see for yourself. THEN GRACE JONES< I LOVE THIS WOMAN. LADY GAGA is exactly like her. she's scary and creepy. DResses eccentric and artistic. she is a genius. if you don't know her, LOOK HER THE **** UP. IGNORANT, that's the name I'm giving some of yall. GRACE JONES sings Pop, R&B, dance-pop, synthpop, rock, New Wave, reggae, electronic, disco. SHE DIDN"T WANT TO BE MAINSTREAM BECAUSE SHE LOVES DOING WHAT SHE DOES. OH COURSE BECAUSE SHE'S BLACK AND 70S AND 80S, SO SHE DIDN'T GET AS MANY PRIVILEGES or EASY as ARTIST TODAY GET. BUT SHE WAS INNOVATIVE LIKE DAVID BOWIE. I CALL HER THE FEMALE VERSION OF DAVID, BUT WITH TWO COMPLETE DIFFERENT STYLES BECAUSE SHE IS SO CREATIVE, INNOVATIVE, ORIGINAL, AND ECCENTRIC. Grace mentioned she has seen outfits GAGA has worn that she has worn too. As would prefer to collaborate with more original artist. You see LADY GAGA is mainstream and possibly manufactured, therefore, some of the things she has done, WHICH OTHERS HAVE DONE, are new to some or most people OF THIS GENERATION. GAGA has recyled things from others, that's why we should keep an open mind of the artist today because NONE OF THEM ARE ORIGINAL>>> AT ALL. THIS GENERATION, I'M REFERRING TO, WHICH IS SAD. of course there are others BUT I'm done typing. ignorant people don't bother commenting. IF you are not sure that you are ignorant, don't bother either 50 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer. Additional Details @koo check out my other question same one. Hi, i'm Italian. I have to know if it's true that..? I am a musician. I'm a singer but also I play guitar and piano. Unfortunately the Italians too closed minded for someone who, like me, is passionate about music genres so far from the "Mediterranean culture". Rock 'n' Roll, Country, Blues, Jazz and many other.. Alive in italy with this kind of music is IMPOSSIBILE. There's no respect ! the musician is cheap like work, and groups that make their songs rarely manage to emerge. Who's makes it generally decreases (as the rest of you) to do the usual shit all the same songs, all with an electronic ground and a text with a bleak and clearly aimed at people with low IQs. Now I have 18 years and I know that to live music, the music i love, I can not stay in Italy. My only regret is not to know English perfectly, wich unfortunately limited me strongly when i wrote my songs. (How i wish i were born in England or in Usa : | ) But I need to know that going to America (or Canada) i will have at least a possibility.. There are my friends in Italy, for example, who are my age, they put some of their songs on myspace and have been contacted by a Canadian "label" =) I must know whether, beyond the usual fools rappers and the usual four "cows" that dancing nude on MTV there's also a place for those who know the music and who wants play it for live. I began to dream of listening to artists who have made history by 60 to 90 years, from John Denver to Bon Jovi. Music is realy my life. I hope for your reply and sorry for grammatical errors! Thanks to all.. Andrea!
I'm 13 years old, and? I've been writing songs recently. They're very depressing. I'm not entirely sure why they are, but I guess that's just the way they happen to turn out. There's only one recently that started out depressing and turned into an electronic dance theme. It started like this: I know there's something more (x5) I've lived a lie I've lived in hell. What more is there to tell? I've felt like I might die. And it turned into: Raise your hands count 1, 2, 3 (1 2 3) On the count of three rise to the ceiling. (1, 2, 1 2 3 go!) It's a wicked dance party, everybody's looking for we're going to dance until we break. You've gotta count 1 2 3 before you raise your hands. we're not gonna stop tonight (no!) Going to carry on until tomorrow. You think you're getting tired? (oh-oh no.) Cuz we're just getting started! (a-alright.) Step 1, clap your hands to the beat. Don't lose your time. Step 2, move your body (move your body x3) Now you're ready (let's go.) We're like a cyclone. This pparty'slast all night (long) Don't do you worry (worry x3) Smoke will follow beauty (beauty) I find it strange that something so strange can turn into something so happy. Is that bizarre, or is it just me? I don't know. I also wanted to get into the music business, but writing music is my hobby. I also don't play an instrument besides the Violin. I may be getting guitar lessons soon. My questions: 1. Do I write music well? 2. What could I do to make it better. 3. Tips for getting noticed.

I think that African Americans inspired white musicians in a good way. Inspiring is a great thing, you see its not just black or white culture. There is no such thing as black or white culture, our culture is pure American. In my eyes we are all one race of human, no matter the skin color we are all homo sapiens scientifically. Homo meaning the same, so don't look at it as one color stealing from another. Look at it as the Human race inspiring each other. You should be glad too that we live in a time where we can finally agree on this. 5 hours ago Choose as Best Answer 5 Rating: Good Answer 0 Rating: Bad Answer Report Abuse by John Member since: July 10, 2008 Total points: 1094 (Level 3) Add to My Contacts Block User An equally valid question is why do black people take electronic insrumentation invented by whites and produce such crap music? See how this goes? Early rock and roll done by whites was equal parts blues influenced rock (black influence) and hillbilly music. Hence the term rock-a-billy. Like Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and the like. Who was Nat King Cole immitating? Sammy Davis? Notice a pattern here? America is nothing but a cultural meat grinder and what gets fed out the other side is dependent on what gets fed into the damn thing. If the artist is unsophisticated, everybody gets rich but the artist. Bruce Springsteen went thru it in the early 80s, it's not a black thing. If you're creating music, get a good agent now. If you're trying to claim a right to the artistry of people who share your skin color, phone B. B. Your definition of culture is different than mine. There's American music and foreign music of different countries. That's how I see it. I understand that there are many different people in USA such as country folk that live in the country...is that culture? Small differences in my opinion. I see culture as bigger differences such as American and German. Therefore, white people do have a culture. We're American and if you compare us to British or Germans or Mexicans we'd have the American culture. Americans eat, dress, different religion, different music, different accents, values, etc as a foreigner. duh. I've heard foreign Rap music so if they stole something from people they don't even know well okay then. lol. 4 hours ago Source(s): educated Choose as Best Answer 1 Rating: Good Answer 2 Rating: Bad Answer Report Abuse by Suhana S Member since: December 25, 2007 Total points: 142 (Level 1) Add to My Contacts Block User You should be glad we did!!!! I think what the problem is here is that you're not seeing your own people as Americans, which you most assuredly are. Remember that Europeans created Western classical music, upon which all the American musical notation is based. There are other classical systems worldwide, but the European one is the most widely used. 4 hours ago Choose as Best Answer 1 Rating: Good Answer 1 Rating: Bad Answer Report Abuse by U w Member since: July 21, 2008 Total points: 382 (Level 2) Add to My Contacts Block User Once an artist of any ilk completes a project (be it painting, architecture, sculpture, music or anything else) they release it into the world. People are free to appreciate it, criticize it, ignore it and not understand it. I’d guess from your tone that you feel people of other races appreciating what you do somehow invalidates it as an expression of what you suppose to be your own culture. Beauty is beauty. Just as ugly is ugly. If people didn’t or couldn’t appreciate art from other geographic “races” then there’d be a real problem. As to the question of racial culture there simply is no such thing. The natural forces that bred some groups to have red hair others black, some groups lighter and others darker is much wider than the forces that create cultures. Meaning that from one side of a given country to the other there are differing cultural mannerisms customs and speech patterns. Social class (rich, poor, middle-class) also carries cultural differences with it. In the states people who’ve lived in the same geographical area and who share the same social class are going to have a lot more in common than they would have differences with people of their ancestral homelands. 4 hours ago Choose as Best Answer 2 Rating: Good Answer 0 Rating: Bad Answer Report Abuse by Matthew P Member since: February 21, 2008 Total points: 4250 (Level 4) Badge Image: Contributing In: Boxing Add to My Contacts Block User Because its good...pretty much all music today has its roots in music created by Africans and Black Americans...even techno. See how ridicolous this is? It's a pointless pointing the finger game. As for rock, rap & hip hop which are traditional music styles which started with perhaps heavy African-American influence. It's not really stealing, as much as appropriating is it? They took something they saw and added their own flavor to it. But if your miffed. Why don't you go and steal some traditional white people music. Such as country, techno, electronic, metal, heavy metal, classical, opera, etc...? I would say it is very extreme to say that "white people" have no culture. First off you will find no white person who will admit to a "white culture." The thing is. Most white people are not cultural bastards the way most black people are. We know our ancestry. Hence we are for example proud of our English, Irish or perhaps German ancestry. There is no such thing as a congruent sticking together on basis of race. Except perhaps in the US. If you go to a German and to an Englishmen in Europe and tell them they should both have the same culture and be bestest buddies since their both white. You'll get beaten up badly by both of them. Racial pride is almost non-existant in Europe. There it is a matter of national pride. And to think of what the culture of various European nations has brought us: Operas in big performing halls (the basis of all soap dramas on TV to come) Classical music (Beethoven, Mozart, Wagner, Strauss, etc..) Pianos, violins, etc.. Precise architecture. Paved streets. Cars. Planes. Motorized boats. Electricity. Television. Radio. Internet. Computers. Cameras. Video recorders. On and on. Yep what did whitey give us civilization in terms of culture? Absolutely nothing of course.......the world would have been absolutely the same if there would have been no white people on this world..... But don't take such an America centric attitude. You should never go to Europe and call someone there white. Call them Austrian, Swedish, English or whatever. Since all your asking is for a beatdown for insulting them by somehow stating to them their race is more important than their nationality. 42 minutes ago Choose as Best Answer 0 Rating: Good Answer 0 Rating: Bad Answer Report Abuse

Translate this into perfect German? INTRO Ramstein are a German metal band from Berlin, formed in 1994. They are widely accepted as part of the Neue Deutsche Harte scene. Their sound has been dubbed as Dance Metal. Rammstein takes their name indirectly from the German town of Ramstein-Miesenbach, the site of the flight show disaster on 28 August 1988. The band's signature song, "Rammstein", is a commemoration of the Ramstein Airshow Disaster. The second "m" in the band's name makes it translate literally as "ramming stone" FORMATION AND EARLY YEARS Rammstein was founded by guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe. In 1989, he escaped to West Berlin and started the band, Orgasm Death Gimmicks. At that time, he was heavily influenced by American music, especially that of Kiss. After the Berlin Wall came down, he moved back home to Schwerin, where Till Lindemann worked as a basket-weaver and played drums in the band First Arsch. At this time, Richard lived with Oliver Reidel, of the band The Inchtabokatables, and Christop (of Die Firma). Richard realized that the music he had previously created did not properly suit him; He envisioned something that would combine machines as well as the sound of hard guitars. The three started working together on a new project. Richard soon found it extremely difficult to write both music and lyrics at the same time, so he persuaded Lindemann to join Rammstein. Richard first discovered Till when he overheard him singing while he was working. STYLE Although Rammstein is often generalized as Neue Deutsche Harte, its music spans a variety of related styles, including industrial hard rock, heavy metal and electronic with influences of punk rock and gothic rock, due to their use of keyboards to emulate strings, choirs or pianos. The band was influenced by Laibach, a Slovenian neo-classical and industrial group. Other influences include Oomph! and Ministry, but the contrast between individual songs makes the band difficult to classify, though most simply refer to them as industrial metal. Rammstein's style has tended to divide critics, some of whom have responded with memorable comments. Jam Showbiz (April 2001) described Mutter as "music to invade Poland to". LYRICS The lyrics of Rammstein and above all their utterance by singer Till Lindemann are an essential element of music and shape the perception by fans and a wider public. This is, among other things that are often very controversial, and taboo subjects such as sadomasochism ("Bück dich", "Rein Raus" and "Bestrafe mich"), homosexuality ("Mann gegen Mann"), intersexuality ("Zwitter"), incest ("Laichzeit" and "Spiel mit mir"), pedophilia ("Weißes Fleisch" and "Halleluja"), incestuous pedophilia ("Tier"), necrophilia ("Heirate mich"), Pyromania ("Benzin" and "Hilf mir"), cannibalism ("Mein Teil"), religious images ("Asche zu Asche", "Engel") having sex and violence ("Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen?", "Rein Raus").
We obviously don't know much about the country aside from a few stereotypes (it's sad, really), so I would LOVE for people to tell me what's feasiable, what's not, and anything else you'd like for me to know. It will help be more confident in this project if I can get any outside feedback from people who've been to/live in Turkey. Thank you!!!!

Ever wanted to annoy everyone at the mall? Wow, some of you must really love to annoy people in public because I've had at least three emails asking me to give advice on annoying people in malls, stores, and WEDDINGS?! So I tracked this down, it's a long list, but the more the merrier! XD Thanks for reading, guys!!! Enjoy!! Ride mechanical horses with coins fished out of the reflecting pond. Try pants on backwards at the Gap. Ask the salesperson if they make your butt look big. Dial 900 numbers from demonstration phones in Radio Shlock. Sneeze on the sample tray at Heckory Farms and helpfully volunteer to consume its now unwanted contents. At the bottom of an escalator, scream “My SHOELACES! AAAGH!” Ask the sales personnel at the music store whether inflated CD prices are in pesos or rubles. Teach pet store parrots new vocabulary that makes them unsalable. Stomp on ketchup packets at Burger Queen... ....but save a few to slurp on as snacks. Tell people that they’re “astronaut food”. Follow patrons of D. Balton’s around while reading aloud from Dianetics. Ask mall cops for stories of World War I. Ask a salesman why a particular TV is labeled black and white and insist that it’s a color set. When he disagrees, give him a strange look and say, “You mean you really can’t see it?” Construct a new porch deck in the tool department of Sears. Wear pancake makeup and new clothes and pose as a fashion dummy in clothes departments, occasionally screaming without warning. Test mattresses in your pajamas. If you’re patient, stare intently into a surveillance camera for an hour while rocking from side to side. Sprint up the down escalator. Stare at static on a display TV and challenge other shoppers whether they, too, can see the “hidden picture”. Ask appliance personnel if they have any TVs that play only in Spanish. Make unusual requests at the Piercing Pagoda. Ask a salesperson in the hardware department how well a At the pet store, ask if they have bulk discounts on gerbils, and whether there’s much meat on them. Hula dance by the demonstration air conditioner. Ask for red-tinted lenses at the optometrist. Sneak up on saleswomen at the perfume counter and spray *them* with your own bottle of Eau de Swanke. Rummage through the jelly bean bin at the candy store, insisting that you lost a contact lens. Ask a saleswoman whether a particular shade of panties matches the color of your beard. In the changing rooms, announce in a singsong voice, “I see London, I see France...” Leave on the plastic string connecting a new pair of shoes, and wander around the mall taking two-inch steps. Play the tuba for change. Record belches on electronic sampling keyboards, and perform gastric versions of Jingle Bells for admiring onlookers. Ask the pharmacist at the drugstore which leading cold remedy will “give you a really wicked buzz.” Ask the personnel at Peer 1 Imports whether they have “any giant junk made out of straw.” “Toast” plastic gag hot dogs in front of the fake fireplace display. Collect stacks of paint brochures and hand them out as religious tracts. Ask the information desk for a stroller, and someone to push you around in it. Change every TV in the electronics department to a station showing “Saved by the Bell”. Chant the dialogue in a robotic voice, and scream if anyone tries to switch channels on one of the sets. Hand a stack of pants back to the changing room attendant and scornfully announce that none of them are “leakproof”. “Play” the demo modes of video games at the arcade. Make lots of explosion noises. Loudly. Stand transfixed in front of a mirror bobbing your head up and down. Squawk at your reflection. Pay for all your purchases with two-dollar bills to provoke arguments over whether they’re real. If it’s Christmas, ask the mall Santa to sit on *your* lap. Answer any unattended service phones that ring in department stores and say “Domino’s.” At the stylist, ask to have the hair on your back permed. Show people your driver’s license and demand to know “whether they’ve seen this man.” Buy a jawbreaker from the candy store. Return fifteen minutes later, fish it out of your mouth, and demand to know why it hasn’t turned blue yet. Walk up the skinniest stairs in the mall with your arms out not letting anyone pass and walking really slow. Growl at anyone approaching. Alternatively, link arms with a few friends and march up the most commonly used staircase, growling at anyone approaching. Find one of the huge boom-boxes and turn it to some rock station. Then, turn it off and turn the volume all the way up. Then the next person to check it out will have great fun! Set all of the alarm clocks in any of the Bed & Bath stores to go off every ten minutes on the loudest setting possible. Buy the largest soda the stores have available, drink it down to the last inch, then stand behind someone while slurping up the remaining soda as loud as possible, when they tell you to stop it retort that you don't like to waste things. Men, go into women's clothes stores and try on skirts, underclothes, swimsuits, etc. Ask shop assistants what they think (vise-versa for women) Bring survial gear and "live" in one of the tents in a camping shops. Scream "Help" & "We're under fire" every 5 mins. Make battle noises as well! Wear you swimming clothes and go swimming in the coin pool! Wear armbands and a rubber ring for extra effect! Start a sing along in the middle of the mall. Print lots of "Fake" money, go into the mall (second floor if available) and throw it all away. Go into a pet shop and release all the birds, parrots etc. Screaming at the top of your voice "Be free my feathered friends" (DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! – birds have beaks) Follow someone with children around yelling "mommy I want that!" Take the money out the fountain while swimming and hand it out to people, spend it or if possible throw it from the second floor (it might hurt someone) Add strange growths to the giant lego men in the toy stores Put weird backgrounds on store computers when people aren't looking. Buy feather boa at a clothing store and hang on to the rail while waving it and screaming "Look everyone I can fly!" Stand in front of the Gap. "Fall" in repeatedly. Threaten legal action. When ever someone makes an announcement over the loud speakers cover your ears and scream "The voices...the voices...make them stop" With a friend, speak in a different language (or make up your own) and make a seen, pointing at signs and people as if they were something shiny and new that you've never seen before. Pretend you're a tourist. Walk right on people\'s heels and when they look back at you stop and look at the ceiling and when they turn back around, continue See if a yawn really is contagious. PERSONAL FAVORITE: Grab some friends and race from one side of the mall to the other. Now, I personally don’t think there’s enough here, so I’ll post a second one as soon as possible – it’ll be on what to specifically do in the stores!! In the meantime, keep emailing me ideas – I love some inspiration!!
