Why is there not a ballroom dance station or ballroom dance music?
I have visited other music sites and they do offer a category specifically for ballroom dance. With the popularity it has obtained in the recent years, especially with the high ratings and success of the ABC show Dancing with the Stars, as a ballroom dance instructor myself, I can share with you my professional opinion, that this particular type of social dancing is very much in demand. I'm more than certain that you would acquire a whole new group of listeners and fans.
Public Comments
- You would be the only one listening. Even of you and all your classes listened it wouldn't be enough to support a ballroom dance station. The best you could do is maybe convice a local public radio station to an hour show once a week or something.
- I agree with you 100% but even with ratings up, I don't think cable would support a ballroom dance station. I have watched ballroom competitions on PBS. Bravo might have some also. If ballroom dance were truly acknowledged as a sport (weren't they trying to establish Dance Sport?) then maybe ESPN would carry competitions.
- You can find music suitable for ballroom on various stations. Jazz stations will often have music suitable for foxtrot, swing, and occasionally waltz. Latin stations will have music for many of the Latin dances. Classical stations sometimes have good waltz music.
