  1. if you've ever seen Take the Lead, there is some good music to dance to maybe on the soundtrack. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
  2. u could check this website : www.dancesportmusic.com if i'm not mistaken..or sort of... the website has the music that can be used for any ballroom dance (latin or standard) and the bpm (bar per minute) whether they match the idsf standard or not..they have the modern song choice or the classic one...
  3. Congrats on getting the gig. Most songs you hear on light rock or easy listening stations can be done at a ballroom dance. Here are some examples for you: Cha Cha: I Will Survive Smooth Lady Marmalade (lots of Santana & Celine Dion are Cha Cha) Social Foxtrot - Cheek to cheek - Singing in the rain (think Frank Sinatra or Rod Stewarts remakes) Waltz - You light up my life - Could I have this dance (think 3/4 count - slow does not actually mean it's a "waltz") Rumba - Stand by Me - Wicked Game (think slow-quick-quick) Jive/Swing - Jail House Rock - Wake up little Suzie (think 50's music) Samba - Bailamos - Love is in the Air - Whenever, whereever (Shakira) Tango - El cholco - Hernando's Hideaway The thing about ballroom dance, with respect to live bands, is that it's not about what song you're playing but it's the rhythm. It's got to be right, to work! I hope this helps!
