Dance Music CDs

Why don't Americans embrace Dance Music , Techno and Electronic Music the way Europeans and others do?

I see the Eastern Cultures and South Americans with these Genre's of music and they embrace it incredibly, but if you look at a lot of Americans, some of never listened or even heard about it. Makes me a little sad, because it's such a great genre. Everyone is into the whole, "Rap and Miley Cyrus" thing.

  1. seriously. i love trance and techno; european music is better in my opinion :] plus most of the songs are meant for the clubs and discotheques in europe, which is good.
  2. I don't know how many people listen to Dance, Techno and Electronic in America but I love some of the stuff. Erlend Oye is great ;)
  3. I believe it would be because too many Americans associate techno, trance and house with sitting inside at a computer all day or being a "Nerd". I like techno but many of my friends do not listen to it for this reason, but everyone, even on my high school football team loved Cascada and DHT came out with their singles and we would sing along to it during practice when they played it on the loudspeakers during field hockey game warmups. :[)
  4. I feel the way about certain types of metal, like symphonic for instance. I'm a big fan of Nightwish, Therion, etc. yet no one here has heard about them. And they think they're weird if they HAVE heard of them. It's bizarre.
  5. I've asked the same sort of question before. I'm Australian and over here electronic/house music is huge and i love it. So for me it's disappointing not seeing any (or rarely) questions regarding this genre.
  6. It does make me sad that people here aren't more open minded to other music. I am very tired of this "Rap and Miley Cyrus" thing that has been going on here, and I hope music does turn out better here sometime soon.
  7. Believe it or not, there are lots of people into the electronic genres, but I guess overall, we prefer real musicians over someone pushing buttons to make music. It doesn't take much talent to produce most electronic music. Anyone with a sampler, drum machine, computer, or keyboard can do it. There are some exceptions, but not many. Miley Cyrus? are you kidding? She's only popular among the teenage girl crowds. Yes, rap is very popular, but so is all the rock music genres too.
  8. My boyfriend enjoys techno music. However, I usually only hear it at the gay clubs.
  9. Because many Americans like to make their music with actual instruments, rather than by pushing buttons and making machines do the work for them. Also, most Americans appreciate good music. We like our music to be so good that we don't have to simply dance to it. We can actually listen to it.
